ST PAUL’S SOCIAL KEEPING LIVERPOOL’S COMMERCIAL DISTRICT ALIVE
DAY AND NIGHT
A food and drink venue in the heart of Liverpool’s commercial district is having a “phenomenal” impact just a few months after opening.
St Paul’s Social was brought to No 4 St Paul’s Square by Avenue HQ, the new commercial tenant in the building and, in April and in its first few months, it has already proved a hit with local workers.
City centre commercial districts typically see big contrasts in activity - very busy in the daytime but virtually deserted in the evenings. St Paul’s Square is now bucking that trend, offering vibrant venues where people can socialise and unwind.
The opening of Bean, a coffee shop that also doubles up as a bar in the evenings, started the trend and now the opening of St Paul’s Social in May has seen people flocking from across the commercial district.
Innovative approach
Andrew Owen of Worthington Owen, joint agents for No 4 St Paul’s Square along with CBRE, said:
“St Paul’s Social has been open for just a few weeks but early indications are that its impact has been phenomenal.
Since Aberdeen Asset Management acquired No 4 back in 2017 they have taken an innovate approach to attracting new occupiers which has gone way beyond just the quality of the physical space.
They have tasked us with creating an environment where wellness and collaboration were top of the agenda. That has proved hugely successful. We have seen a raft of lettings over the past couple of years and our tenants have seen their growth accelerate.
The addition of St Paul’s Social fits in perfectly with that strategy. We have hundreds of people working in the building and the venue had provided a vibrant space where they can meet, network, socialise or just unwind.
St Paul’s Social is also increasingly attracting office workers from elsewhere in the commercial district, creating a real buzz and ensuring the area remains full of life well into the evening.”
Evening scene
Leah Dottie from co-working space specialist The Avenue Group, operator of St Paul’s Social, added:
“When we were opening St Paul's Social, we wanted to create a space that would serve both the community in the square and the wider business district, where people could come to take a break from their working day, meet with clients and spend downtime with colleagues.
We love being a part of St Paul's Square and are proud to bring something new to the evening scene of the area while putting back into the Liverpool economy by using local suppliers and producers wherever we can.”
