Liverpool well-placed to attract top talent, say recruitment experts
Liverpool’s appeal as a place to come to live and work is continuing to grow, recruitment experts say.
A recent study by national job site, CV-Library, revealed that Liverpool was one of the most attractive locations in the country for work-life balance. It spoke to 1,200 workers in cities across the UK about their work-life balance.
Glasgow came top of the work-life balance league table with 77.8% of people in the city expressing their content. This was followed by Nottingham (71.1%), Sheffield (70.6%), Liverpool (66.7%), Bristol, 65.9%, Southampton (63.9%), London (63.8%), Leeds (63%), Cardiff (62.5%) and Manchester (54.9%).
In recent years Liverpool has made an effort to sell itself as one of the best places in the country to live and work. It offers lower living costs than other comparative cities and offers a wealth of leisure opportunities.
A number of office developments now use it as a selling point when looking to attract occupiers, with Liverpool’s No 4 St Paul’s Square one of the most pro-active locations. It is home to a number of growing dynamic businesses and has fostered a collaborative ethos. On the ground floor, the recently-opened St Paul’s Social has become a focal point for people working in the building.
One of the tenants at No 4 is recruitment business, Search Consultancy. It is a national firm that has had a base in Liverpool since 2004 and had established a strong reputation for excellence across a number of business sectors.
Rich Westhead, managing director of Search Consultancy in Liverpool, said: “Make no mistake, Liverpool is consolidating itself as one of the top locations in the UK to do business.
“With its universities churning out a wealth of talent every year and a cost of living agreeable enough to keep that talent around, businesses settling on Merseyside find themselves with a great talent pool.
The transport links are also exceptional. Trains, buses and even ferries carry people around the city all day every day, Euston is a 2-hour journey by rail, and John Lennon airport is there for those requiring international travel.
With the city offering such vibrant culture and entertainment, attracting talent from outside rarely requires much of a hard sell. We have enjoyed much success since laying our Merseyside roots in 2004 and the future continues to look bright. For enterprises keen to boost their talent quota, Liverpool should be taken very seriously as a location for expansion.”
