Gas Tag to create new jobs amid ‘game-changer’ deals in 2020

Fast-growing No 4 St Paul’s Square tenant Gas Tag will grow its staff numbers by 50% as it gets set to agree it’s “biggest-ever” deal.

Founded in 2015 by entrepreneurs, Paul Durose and Stephen Ullathorne, Gas Tag supplies an electronic tag to landlords, housing associations and local authorities that ensures all work is up to date and carried out by registered gas engineers.

According to Paul, the tag is currently installed in thousands of homes “from Scotland to Cornwall” but a deal for a nation-wide partnership to supply Gas Tag for the private homeowner market, will see a significant rise in the number of installations.

He said: “Our mission is to bring Gas Tag into every home in the UK and the deals we have put in place for the private homeowner market will be a real game-changer for Gas Tag. It means over the next 12 to 18 months we will be adding another 40 people to our team on top of the 99 we currently employ.”

Amid Government pressure to push up gas safety standards, Paul believes Gas Tag will become as ubiquitous as smoke alarms. “The housing association market is massive for us and will continue to be so,” added Paul. “But the move into the private homeowner market potentially takes our business on to a new level.

“Back in the 1990s insurance companies started to mandate that every home had to have a smoke alarm and now it is hard to imagine any home without one. Gas safety is just as important, so we think our tags will eventually be installed in everyone’s home.”

Gas Tag is one of several businesses based at No 4 St Paul’s that have enjoyed significant growth since moving into the building. Paul said: “No 4 has been a fantastic location for us.

“The quality of the workplace is so important. We have a team that is happy and well-motivated and being based in such a friendly and collaborative environment has been a big factor in that.”
